5 Hour Energy’s decaf shot has 6mg of caffeine. This equates to the same ammount of caffeine in a half cup of decaf coffee. 5 Hour seems to have their citrus flavors tweaked pretty good. The shot tasted like a mix between citrus and cream. Interesting mix. Being a decaf shot, I lost the quick pick up and I was not super satisfied with how long I felt “energized”. I guess if you really don’t like caffeine, this is great for you. After reading another robot’s review of 5 Hour Energy’s berry flavor, I had a chaser prepared for my assignment: 5 Hour Extra Strength. Fortunately, I did not need to wash away any nasty tastes. This lemon lime shot went down very smooth. When I compared the ingredients of regular 5 Hour to the Extra Strength, I did notice that there was more caffeine in the extra strength. 5 Hour Energy is EVERYWHERE! I see these shots at the local grocery store, gas stations, vending machines, bookstores, in my Grandma’s refrigerator…. I mean everywhere. I am sure you have seen their low budget commercial as well. Well right off the bat, I am let down because I can’t stand the taste. This formula does not mask the taste of the energy blend very well. No, I did not explode when I took this shot. I thought I might when I looked at this shot’s packaging (covered in flames). Extreme Energy wildberry has a very tart berry taste. It reminds me of a berry 7up with a little fruit punch mixed in. Very tangy. I would say this shot is almost close to perfection, but maybe upgrade the packaging? I do not relate flames to energy.
